I’m losing students, but I have a lead!

I’m losing students & those lessons that I’ve had to cancel are being refused a make-up.  The financial crisis has hit me.  Part of the reason I started this blog is so that I’d be able to reach out & improve my web-presence.  I’ve just found www.ashburymusichall.com (through twitter: @dgottesman) – a new website that will help me to teach students via the web.  I’ve signed up to try it out – I’m not sure exactly how it will work, but right now I’m trying just about everything I can figure out to try to both obtain and help students.  I really care about helping people to find their voice & to use it to the best of their ability.  Perhaps this will help me reach previously unavailable students (as well as continue to let me set my own schedule so I can be the best mom possible!).  There’s a YouTube video about it that has some very good information.  I’m excited.

I’m home this morning instead of teaching Music Together, my daughter was throwing up last night AND my computer was not completely booting up for me for about 4 hours.  (That’s why I ordered a new Dell last week!)  Then, as I got completely frustrated, my husband got on my computer &, of course, it behaved perfectly!  Joyful!  So, I’m home instead of teaching, but I’m going through some of my Twitter back-up, so that will help.

Thanks Dave for coming up with the idea of how to reach more students through technology.  It’s a great idea & I hope it takes off.

  1. Thanks for writing about us. We will be unveiling the site this summer. I am anxious too. Any instructors who wish to get an early look can reach out to me on twitter @dgottesman. We are looking for a few more beta users to lead online courses for the launch this summer. You can bring your own students or we will find some to fill your class.
