I didn’t practice today or do anything “important”

I started off today planning on cleaning house really well in preparation for some dinner guests tomorrow night (right now, my house is full of piles everywhere and there IS no dining room table). But, I got sidetracked.
It all started when I took my daughters to my youngest’s Easter Egg Hunt this morning (the oldest is on Easter Break right now).
It was a BEAUTIFUL day on the Scottsdale Civic Center Mall today and we just had to stay and do more. So, we went to the store, bought kites, bread & meat and sunscreen and stayed longer.
While eating lunch, we ended up seeing the “Native Trails” concert that is presented on Thursdays & Saturdays that I’ve wanted to see – Native American singing and dancing in a very information & respectful way. It was wonderful.
Afterwards, we went past the “LOVE” statue (the one from the postage stamp) we had previously visited.
Then we tried out our new “micro” kites. These are about the size of an index card, are easy for little hands to handle & fly with very little breeze.

Finally, we ended the afternoon with a visit to the Scottsdale Public Library.
We got home 7 hours after we left. None of the housecleaning got done. I had to call a student & move her to later in the day & then do a super-quick prep to sing at Holy Thursday Mass tonight. But, it was worth it. I didn’t do what I’d planned. But we had an amazing day together & did things I’ve been saying we’d get to (fly a kite, go to the library) for quite a while. Didn’t do my list. Didn’t clean. Didn’t practice. Was a great mom & that’s what mattered today.
